Formed in 2023, Mood of a Sinner is a five-piece deathrock/gothic rock band from San Diego, rooted in dark romanticism, religious symbolism, and theatrical atmosphere.

Drawing influence from pioneers such as Christian Death, The Cure, and Bauhaus, alongside the melancholic textures of post-punk and alternative gothic rock, the band blends aggressive emotional delivery with immersive storytelling.

The band’s artistic identity is heavily shaped by early German Expressionist cinema, drawing visual and thematicinspiration from films such as The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari, The Hands of Orlac, The Man Who Laughs, and Nosferatu. Their work reflects a fascination with antique aesthetics, surreal religious imagery, and Victorian-era romanticism, as wellas the contrast between today’s modern corporate dullness and a world built from ritual, symbolism, and theatrical performance.

Mood of a Sinner has independently released three demo singles while developing their debut full-length concept album, Last Temptation. The record explores spiritual conflict, mysticism, and surreal narrative themes set within a fictional Victorian-inspired world. The band is currently in the final stages of mixing the album with renowned producer Darrell Thorp (Foo Fighters, Radiohead).

The band has shared the stage with a few acts within the gothic and deathrock community, including Christian Death,Altar de Fey, New Skeletal Faces, Leonora Post Punk, and Kommunity FK.

With a fourteen-track concept album at hand, the band is working to build a distinctive voice and establish itself as anemerging act within the gothic underground.
